Day 3
Mouse Lake
Today was our day of rest, nothing planned other than just hang out and do
whatever. The morning started off quite nice with the sun shinning and a
little paddle up beside a bull moose!!

Early Morning Drink

During our trek I happened to notice that our canoe seemed to be cracking on
each side of the center; I guess with the weight and packs in the canoe we
couldn't notice. We never did have any issues with beaver dams or logs so
I'm not quite sure what happened. It didn't seem too bad, however the water
was very calm that morning.
After having some breakfast and generally just relaxing we decided to canoe up
to Club Lake and check it out. It was during this time that we realized
just how bad the
cracks in canoe were. With the wind picking up and the
water being much rougher the canoe really looked like it was taking a beating.
Being a little concerned we cut our trek short and headed back to camp.
Later that afternoon the sun came out again and it was really nice; most of the
afternoon was spent reading on the beach. We found a branch that had a
really odd bend in it and it made the perfect golf club so we had a blast
hammering other pieces of wood out into the lake. It's funny how the
simplest of things can bring grown men such fun in this environment; it was
almost like we were 10 years old again catching frogs and tadpoles was such a
rush. Again, we tried our luck at some fishing in the evening but nothing really to
speak of.
Later that night we found a red/brown frog, a colour of frog none of us had seen
before; unfortunately my camera was on the wrong setting.

While sitting around the campfire this night we also had a little friend join
us; guess this is why they call it Mouse Lake.

Smells like trail mix...

Ummmmm, it is trail mix!!!

The rest of the evening was spent round the campfire while I played guitar for
most of the evening and we all started thinking about leaving the next day as
yet another trip was about to end.
